Will there be other beginners
in my class?
Yes, certainly. Our classes are divided by age, not rank. They are open to all belt ranks and the
students are diverse. They are all excellent classes for beginners
to attend; black belt students may be assigned to assist the lower ranking students.
I'm not very flexible/strong/athletic.
Can I still train in martial arts?
Absolutely. Gradually your skills will improve. People who are not naturally
flexible can still be strong and fast. You can BECOME an athlete by working
out on a regular basis. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and being
athletic is not a prerequisite.
How many times each week can
students work out?
We offer classes for beginner students six days per week, and students
are encouraged to work out two to three classes per week. Personal workouts
at home are also recommended.
Who teaches the classes?
Senior Instructors teach the classes. Our instructors are certified and
highly experienced. To assist in the classes, Mr. Rogers hand-picks First
Degree Decided Black Belts and above who are not only excellent martial
artists, but also clear communicators and experienced at working with
children. We do not hire instructors from outside the academy. This keeps
our curriculum and expectations consistent.
Do you offer family member
discounts?
Sure we do! Additional family members train in taekwondo for a significantly
reduced rate! A one-time enrollment fee does apply
for each student.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Denton Taekwondo Academy does not require contracts.
Our students pay month-to-month. You do not pay for any month that you
do not take lessons. There are no exit fees, deposits, annual fees, or
auto-withdrawal requirements. No tricks!
Where
do I get the uniform?
Your first uniform is free when you pay the enrollement fee and the first month's tuition. If you require an additional uniform, we sell uniforms at the academy and we try to keep all sizes in stock. They
cost about $35. You do not need a uniform for your free introductory class, just wear something loose-fitting and comfortable such as shorts, leggings (without feet) or sweats.
Are students required to
compete in tournaments?
No, it is not required.
How do I enroll?
After your Introductory Special, you pay the one-time
enrollment fee and the first month's tuition. There is one small information
form to fill out. Get Started Today!
How much does it cost?
The one-time enrollment fee is $65 for your first family member and $50
for each additional family member. Depending on your choice, the monthly tuition varies from $108 - $138 for your
first family member and $58 for each additional family member. Please
see our Programs page for more information.
"Family Member" means immediate family, i.e. your spouse or
your minor child. The only other expenses that you will incur are periodic testing
fees ($40 every two months if eligible). Green belts and above need sparring
gear, which costs about $130, also available through the school. DTA t-shirts are available for $20 if desired.
